032c is a biannual, Berlin-based magazine and fashion brand that has become a global symbol of innovation at the intersection of art, fashion, and politics. Founded in 2000 by Joerg Koch, it has grown from an independent print publication into a multifaceted media and fashion company. The editorial team’s unofficial motto — “we don’t treat our readers like idiots” — says it all. Each issue is best described as cutting-edge: ultra-contemporary, boldly experimental in its photography, layout, and writing.

The 032c Issue #49 dossier is dedicated to the influence of Memphis, Tennessee, on rap as we know it. PHILLIP PYLE speaks to DJ PAUL of THREE 6 MAFIA, DJ SPANISH FLY, LA CHAT, SHAWTY PIMP, and TOMMY WRIGHT III at the northern point of the Mississippi Delta, where photographer NEVA WIREKO captures the city beyond Elvis’ Graceland and shopping at Bass Pro in a pyramidal mall.
