Hélène Fleiss and Olivier Zahm founded Purple Prose in 1992 as a counterpoint to the mindless glossy magazines of the ’80s. Purple Fashion first appeared in the mid-’90s as its supplement, and in 2004 evolved into an independent magazine. The main criterion for selecting content is the founders’ personal taste, which has nothing to do with glamorous fashion — something you can easily see in the magazine’s website diary section, where even society chronicles by Olivier Zahm turn into cheerful trash.

The Analog Issue of Purple. This issue stands as a manifesto against digital homogenization and the erosion of real, physical experience. It’s not about nostalgia but about dissidence and optimism — defending the value of analog culture in an age dominated by algorithms, AI, and digital simulation. It highlights a new generation of creatives who instinctively return to film, vinyl, live performances, and print as tangible, lasting mediums. The magazine argues that analog formats preserve depth, memory, and cultural authenticity in ways digital media cannot.
